A late-twenties AAA-veteran who has consistently put up powerful minor league numbers can actually contribute at the major league level?
WOW!
Edit: Chone Smith has just released his Major League Equivalencies (MLEs) for minor leaguers. Here are the relevant figures:
Micah Hoffpauir: .307/.336/.606
Valentino Pascucci: .251/.348/.441
Hoffpauir's slugging percentage in AAA was .752 this year. Both he and Pascucci, who slugged "only" .553, played in the offense-heavy Pacific Coast League.

Whoa. I checked out his minor league stats and wasn't really impressed. Apparently the site I went to was missing his 2008 numbers. Big difference.
And yeah, John, when he hit the second HR I immediately thought of Val and you.
The guy has gone nuts the past two years at Iowa.
I use a Marcel based system which includes minor league data.
After 2006, Hoffpauir projected at 252/307/397, a non-prospect. Right now he's 284/330/491, which is good enough to beat out Fukudome 260/354/382 at the plate
Pascucci, I have at 247/340/463. Power would put him league avg at an of corner, but below avg for 1b.
