Mets to Mess with Another Young Player

Marlon Anderson to the DL. Yay! Dan Murphy to take his place. What?

There's no middle ground with this team, is there? Either they are playing veterans over more-deserving youngsters, or they are wildly promoting youngsters over other far more accomplished players who are actually major league-ready.

Seriously, couldn't Dan Murphy play more than one game in AAA before you brought him up? Are you even trying for long-term sustainability?

On the other hand, here's hoping Dan Murphy is the Mets' second baseman of the future.

Players Promoted Instead of Valentino Pascucci:

Dan Murphy
Argenis Reyes
Fernando Tatis (Okay, that has worked out. So maybe the Mets should consider that while Tatis hit 242/.345/.592 in New Orleans, Pascucci is hitting .282/.405/.538)
Abraham Nuñez
Nick Evans
Chris Aguila
Raúl Casanova
Robinson Cancel
Trot Nixon
Andy Phillips
Gustavo Molina

3 HRs for Pascucci tonight. Obviously he's trying to get someone's attention.

"Hello?! I'm OPSing over .950 here!! Hello!?!"

Yeah, rushing these guys might be a problem. It is pretty cool to see how they react to big league competition.

Murphy made a whale of a play in LF.

Pascucci needs a freaking shot though. If Cancel is up there, then so should Pascucci.

At least Beltran's batting 2nd for the foreseeable future. If Delgado continues to hit like a cleanup hitter, Beltran's the obvious candidate for that position.

Omar probably doesn't want to look like an idiot--and he will look better if Pac-Man never comes up. than if he comes up and rakes, making Minaya looks like a fool for signing Marlon Anderson and compounding his error by actually playing him for 4 months.
Castillo, Schowienweiss, and Sosa have already made Omar look bad enough.

Baby steps, Blastings.

I don't think I've complained about this yet, so I'll begin doing so: what on earth is the point of having Robinson Cancel on this team?

Also, is anyone else terrified of the fact that Paul LoDuca is now available?

Well, I think last off-season indicated how much the Mets brass hates Paul LoDuca, going so far as to blame him for the game 7 loss to the Cards. You need not be concerned Ian about Pauly coming to the Mets.

I guess not all Met bloggers agree.

Ny Sports Dog is whacking at strawmen up there; especially disingenuous is the cherrypicking of a few PCL players and their stats as if that proves anything about anything. Last I checked, the PCL plays the game of baseball, and Pascucci has been very good at it this year.

Why do people have to use terms like "the answer" anyway? Pascucci would simply be a better option than Cancel, Anderson, Evans, and probably even Murphy. Given who the Mets have brought up/picked up to fill the holes (Nixon, Phillips, Casonova, Nunez, ad naseum), there is no reason in hell he shouldn't get a chance. I believe that's the gist of what most people are saying.

One of the 1st thoughts that came to my head after watching the performance of our 2 1B/LF:

"Wow, Marlon Anderson was totally useless."

It's odd how many wins we may have sacrificed by giving his punk ass 130 plate appearances--even at the expense of giving those PAs to Nick Evans, never mind a real major leaguer, and the same goes for defense.

Imagine how much our outfielders would be exposed without Beltran--bless his soul!
